At Kemp’s, we believe that martial arts is more than just kicking and punching.

It’s a fantastic way for kids to develop confidence, discipline, and respect, while also getting active and having fun.

Kids Kickboxing

Our Kids Kickboxing classes are a great way for your child to learn self-defence skills, improve their fitness, and develop coordination.

In each class, your child will learn how to use their “eight limbs” effectively, while also developing important values like respect, patience, and perseverance.

We focus on creating a safe and supportive environment where kids can learn at their own pace.

Beginners will learn the basics, including kickboxing stance, basic movements, and technique.

They will work with partners to practise their skills and, when they feel confident with their abilities, will engage in light touch-sparring only (no hard hits) with other students.

Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art that uses ground-fighting techniques to defeat an opponent.

One of the reasons this is such a fantastic sport for children is the fact that strength and size don’t matter as much as skill and technique.

It is designed so that a weaker or smaller opponent can still defeat a larger and stronger one.

This makes it a great choice for children of all ages, especially those who may be smaller in stature or have low self-esteem or confidence. BJJ can help your child develop:

  • Patience
  • Timing
  • Fortitude

All students studying BJJ are required to wear the traditional uniform known as a Gi, including a belt. Grading takes place each term, and your child will learn what drills they are required to demonstrate, with lots of time during class to practise their moves.

Kids Martial Arts Classes FAQ

Martial arts offers fantastic benefits for kids! It helps them develop confidence, discipline, respect, focus, and coordination, all while getting active and having fun.

It’s a great way to build valuable life skills and instil a positive mindset.

We offer classes for kids of all ages, typically starting around 4 or 5 years old.

We group kids based on their age and skill level to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.

Sparring is a great way to test skills and build confidence, but it’s not mandatory, especially for beginners.

If your child chooses to spar, they’ll always be partnered with someone at a similar skill level, and our instructors prioritise safety and respect in all training sessions.

We offer Kids Kickboxing and Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes, each designed to provide age-appropriate instruction and a fun learning environment.

For Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, your child will need to purchase a Gi, which is the traditional uniform, and a belt.

We do have some spare gloves in kid’s sizes for kickboxing, but they are limited, so having their own gear is ideal.
